We love our hummingbirds, and try to have nectar-producing plants for them from the time they arrive right up until mid-October, when they depart.  They especially love sages, so we grow a big variety:  Pineapple, many Reds, Bog, East Freisland, Jerusalem, Coral Nymph, Rosy-leaf, Eveline, and lots more.  They also love vines:  lacy Cardinal Climber, pretty asarina, fast-growing hyacinth bean, scarlet runner bean, morning glory and vigorous Trumpet Creeper.

Fuschias and nasturtiums in hanging baskets are also necessities.  In the perennial border, plant Monarda (especially red!), cardinalflower, columbine, penstemon, coral bells, tritoma, veronica, agastache cana, delphinium, and hollyhocks.

For flowering shrubs, choose weigela, cotoneaster, hibiscus, lilac, and buddleia.

For annuals:  cosmos, dahlias, geranium, four o’clock, nicotiana, cleome, lantana, jewelweed, and monkeyflower.

Look for our special display, and you’ll find everything the little hummers adore!
